He didn’t fit the stereotype of a man who put his life at risk on a regular basis. He didn’t seem like a person who would expose and then tirelessly work to break the faults of his own cultural system.
It was a chance meeting. He didn’t command attention, much less seek it. When I met Kailash Satyarthi, I mainly noticed his quiet, gentle presence. Then they played his video from “The New Heros” series…
Nathan Cryder, a friend and fellow social entreprenuer with Global Gain, had developed a relationship with Kailash. Nathan had traveled to India and had worked with Kailash at his ashrams. Nathan had been captivated by the work, the purpose and the heart of his efforts.
Kailash was in the states for a brief stint and was making a special stop through Lexington, KY to meet with Nathan. So Nathan set up a special evening program to introduce him to friends and aquaintances. It was through this event that I was first introduce to Kailash’s work.
Now, this would typically be the place where I go on to tell you about this amazing story. However, I believe that you should always “show” before you “tell” someone about something of this significance.
I invite you to download this video clip and watch it. I would warn you to not watch it if you are happy and content with your current efforts for doing good.
I Dare you to watch this video. I also Dare you Not to Care.
